The official book launch for The Surfing Penguin was held on Thursday 10th January at Esperance Public Library.

It was such a fun morning! Children and their parents filled the children’s reading corner, as I read to them the title story, “The Scary Plight of the Surfing Penguin” – all about stumbling across scary content online, and what to do about it. The vibrant illustrations by John Field were projected up on the screen while I read, so that the children could see them clearly.

After this, they participated in some hands on activities organised by Michelle from the Library. They created corner book marks for their new signed copies of The Surfing Penguin, and also decorated Pablo the Penguin and Gabbo the Galah with feathers! Using the AR features from the book, they also turned themselves and their parents into penguins!

Thanks so much to the people who came along to support, and the Library for organising the event. Also thank you to the Esperance Express who promoted the event in the lead-up, and also came along to the event to interview me.
