Lesson Overview

This is the second lesson in the unit “Digital Systems” based on the Year 5/6 Digital Technologies curriculum (WA). The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to the concepts “hardware” and “software.” To help contextualise this content, students unscrew and peek inside a real computer. The students I’ve done this activity with have just LOVED it! (Note: this will only work if you have an old computer lying around at school that you can unscrew!)

  • Define the differences between hardware and software
  • Look inside a computer!
