About Kim Maslin
Kim Maslin is a passionate educator and author currently living in Esperance, Western Australia.
Her background is in ICT, and has taught learners aged 5 to 85-year-olds how to use digital technologies. She has worked as a specialist Science & Technologies teacher, as well as a Be Connected Officer. Kim also runs her own Digital Technologies Education Business, providing digital marketing workshops and consultancy, plus graphic and web design services.
In 2017, Kim launched a cyber safety book series, titled The Tweeting Galah. These collection of short stories are designed to educate children on how to be safe and happy online, with the use of augmented reality technology accompanying the vivid illustrations. The series is currently being used by over 7,000 families and schools across Australia.
She is in the early stages of a Doctorate of Education through Curtin University, where she will be exploring the implementation of the Digital Technologies curriculum in regional West Australian primary schools.
Kim’s on-going vision is to spark a love and understanding of technologies in those she teaches, particularly to help drive more girls into STEM-related careers. She hopes to play a significant role in helping people of all ages use technology in a safe way. Kim is continuing to grow and develop The Tweeting Galah book series and hopes to see it used in all primary schools across Australia.
She is always on the look out for collaboration opportunities with like-minded individuals and organisations.
