In August 2017 I was fortunate to be invited to present at the Future Focused Learning STEM and Beyond Conference, held at Penhros College in Perth, Western Australia. Here, I presented “Digital Literacy in the Logic Lab” …

Equipping our students with the skills they need for the 21st century is an integral part of teaching today. For a school to effectively do this, consideration needs to be given to the learning space, curriculum development and teacher implementation. I drew upon her professional experiences to provide participants with practical ideas and solutions for achieving these three things. Using the recent renovation of my school’s IT Lab into The Logic Lab as a case study, l addressed the process schools need to go through to ensure their learning spaces can facilitate the innovation, creativity and problem-solving skills required of children today. From there, practical ideas for teaching digital literacy, cybersafety and STEM were presented, to give educators the inspiration and confidence they need to integrate these concepts and content into their classrooms.

Presenting at this conference was so exciting, and I had so much fun getting to know the different participants and other presenters. Plus, amazing cupcakes!! 😉
