Lesson Overview

This is the first lesson in the unit “Digital Systems” based on the Year 5/6 Digital Technologies curriculum (WA). This lesson gives students a big overview of the evolution of technology – what sorts of technology changes has the world experienced? Just how recent are new technologies like smart phones! Students will be so surprised by the dates of key inventions like the telephone, radio and computer. There is also a Powerpoint prompt to get students comparing old and new technologies.

Lesson Overview:

  • Introduce & discuss key events in the evolution of technology throughout history (video & timeline activity)
